The story revolves around the relationships of three single siblings, two of whom live together, and takes place during a visit by the third, Masha, an aging actress, and her boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, leading to the possibility Masha will sell the house from under her siblings. Also, on the scene are ‘sassy’ maid Cassandra, who predicts the future with startling accuracy, and a lovely aspiring actress, Nina, who is of great concern to the imperious Masha. The show is an hilarious expose of family dysfunctionality, old vs new generations, assumed identities with a healthy dose of Anton Chekov thrown in.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike with be co-produced with The Performing Arts of Woodstock, running for three weekends, beginning mid-October.
